Organisation

Since 1990, LekArt has been organizing various activities in the field of contemporary visual art. For example, there is LekArt Festival, which has been organised once every two years. Since 2020 LekArt started LekArt Talent and the LekArt Artist in residence (Air). With LekArt Talent and the LekArt Air, LekArt mainly focusses on the development of up-and-coming artists.

LekArt uses the following mission and vision;

With the use of art, LekArt wants to promote the connection in the society. We link local themes to current social issues. By showing excellent and innovative artworks and performances in a coherent and ‘narrative’ art route, we confront the visitor with the urgency of the theme and raise questions about one’s own position in it.

Visual art is the core where the boundaries between art disciplines fade. Because of this LekArt is able to show more interdisciplinary cross-overs between visual art and performance art, like theatre, dance, circus, music and poetry, along the route.
