LekArt as a bridge for starting artists

Since 2020, LekArt supports artists who recently graduated from one of the various art courses in the Netherlands. On the inspiring location of Werk aan het Spoel (part of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie) in Culemborg, the artists have access to an Artist in residence space, the LekArt studio (for workshops, lectures and expositions) and the impressive outdoor area of Werk aan het Spoel. We strive to offer a work- and development space that acts as a bridge for upcoming artists.

The LekArt Foundation

According to multi-artist Ramsey Nasr, art is like the breath of life and we cannot go without it. For the past two years, the value of art and artists was made clear: art lets us think, laugh, be amazed and much more. Artists help us put things in perspective, process things and meet one another. With all the limitations we have had, we realised how much we missed these feelings.

The LekArt Foundation wants to contribute to this value, especially now, with innovative art in the overwhelming river landscape. Art is not something you just order, it is the exiting result of years of growth, dedication and support of the people who believe in the possibility of making something beautiful.

LekArt Air, an extraordinary place to work and stay.

LekArt Air is a space for starting artists, where they can work and stay for a month. LekArt Air talents are scouted by our curator or our ambassadors at the art courses. LekArt artists always meet the LekArt criteria and after careful assessment, they will be guided throughout their stay at the Air. Every stay at the Air is completed with a presentation of the process and (preferably) an end result: the artwork or performance of the artist.
