LekArt Lab May 10th: guest Liz Wells

LekArt-Labs-Liz-Wells-1

LekArt connects the Culemborg and Dutch art scene to the international network Land Water and the Visual Arts. The guest is British art historian, emeritus professor and curator Liz Wells (https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/staff/liz-wells). She has many exhibitions and publications to her name on landscape and visual art, such as the epic book Land Matters (2011) and the exhibition at BOZAR in Brussels Sense of Place (2012), which was also accompanied by a voluminous book.

For decades she has been one of the key figures of the international network Land Water and the Visual Arts. This network will be a guest at LekArt Festival in September with a symposium that is partly in situ at the festival terrain, partly online connected to the United Kingdom, Sweden and New Zealand with speakers and workgroups of the network specializing in visual arts about nature or specifically about the phenomenon ‘river’.

From the UK, through a zoom connection, Liz Wells will talk about the history and usefulness of the Land/Water and the Visual Arts network. She will also show images of special activities, performances and exhibitions of affiliated artists. She will discuss these and other works, all of which are about the interaction between landscape and visual art, with the LekArt Lab visitors who are present.
